— Water Plant Operator
Sandra Meekis has just recently started her career as a water plant operator. She is from Sandy Lake First Nation, a community of 3000 people. Sandy is one of the largest reserves with three operators. Duties include checking drawdowns, checking meters, testing water, taking samples. Samples are taken at the schools, nursing station, band office, and some residences.
Sandra is married with five children and six grandchildren. Previously, Sandra worked as a seasonal worker at MNR. She was a carpenter for two years and worked in security for two years. Sandra enjoys beadwork, making necklaces, and making slippers and gloves. She also enjoys the outdoors: cutting wood, fishing, and hunting.
